The ups an downs of a long distance runner.
Its been a different sort of year for me,no cycling, not much swimming, just concentrated on running. I decided early on to try an do a sub 3-14 marathon, then do back to back marathons dingle an dublin. So after all the setbacks,injuries,2 x rays, physio, painkillers,an being plain fed up,ive come out at the end with a 3-26-17 for dingle an a 3-26-45 for dublin. Dingle was better for me felt fresher ran a gud race apart from mile 21 to 23 absolute [ball breaker] google elevation an ull se why,but got through it,felt gud afterwards. Dublin was a constant slog, legs were heavy, felt gud at mile 21 to 23 though that didnt last, relived to finish it,i think the mental toughness i got from dingle got me through it,we all experiance pain an discomfort when we push ourselves to the limit, its how we deal with that makes the difference. So where from here, well a sub 3-20 marathon is a personal quest for me now, though time is running out ,if i remain in gud health,i wil take on new challenges,to be the best i can be no excuses,if i fail to achive my goals i wil try again ,i wil not accept mediocrity from myself. For now its back to easy cycles, trying to swim again lol ,i want to say thanks to all club members who wished me well, its great to get those texts thanks guys, an what a year for liquid motion with 3 new IRONMEN [waiting on reports guys, not forgettin mr ironman himself, another one done james], an to all the other outstanding achivements by club members in 2011,well done to everyone, also thank my wife maggie for sticking with me,it musent be easy living with a [top athleate tee he] till next time GERRY
