Please arrive in plenty of time for sign-in, Race starts at 8 am sharp.
allow time for sign-in, and organising yourself, racking bikes , sorting out
your gear in transition, changing etc.
Race will start on time - don't be late

All bikes will go through a safety check by Michael Hopkins of Hopkins cycles, ensure your brakes are
working, tyres are pumped and everything is in order with your bike

Important .. a bike helmet is mandatory - no helmet means no race

Race distances
200m Pool swim
7km Bike
3km Run

SWIM
200m ( 10 lengths ) in the Great National Hotel Pool

Only 4 ft deep, a great pool for beginners, you will be in a lane with other swimmers of similar ability,

if someone needs to pass just let them by at the wall , simple.

once you complete the swim you will exit the pool through the rear fire exit doors towards
transition 1 which will be to the rear of the pool

Bike

Important . you must put your helmet on before you un-rack your bike , dont get on your bike until you cross the mount line

Helmet and shoes on, and off you go.
The bike course is a one lap loop, leave the hotel entrance and turn left , turn left at the junction with the Foxford road ( facing Connolly cars ), cycle on almost as far as Mount Falcon and turn left again , this will bring you back to the front of the hotel , there will be a second transition in the lay-by at the front of the hotel.
Stop at the dismount line and re-rack your bike
There will be marshals / signs at important junctions.

You will be cycling on open roads, it is important to be aware of road traffic and
to cycle responsibly during the bike section.
Your safety is your own responsibility , there will be marshalls at junctions however you must make sure
for yourself that it is safe to proceed.
Coming to the end of the bike section, passing Charles River laboratories you may encounter
some entrants coming back towards you on the same side of the road for the run section,
there will be marshals at this point for safety
however please be aware of this and allow space if necessary

Important . Get off the bike before the dismount line, Rack your bike before you remove your helmet .

Run
The  run is a 3km out and back run ( Run 1.5km, turn around , run 1.5km back ).  Once your bike is racked you run out of transition, you will have to exit out the back of transition, run around a cone and then run 1.5km towards the turnaround point, this is for safety so runners aren't running out the same place as bikes are coming in, and to equalize the course for everyone.  At the start of the run there is a small section where runners and cyclists are on the course
at the same time, please be conscious of this and pay attention to any cyclists on this section
and allow space where necessary

After 1.5km turn around the cone and return back to transition 2 / the finish.

Congratulations you have completed your Try a Tri

Prize giving will be in the hotel leisure centre afterwards
There will be prizes for top 3 male and female
and first novice male and female
